While dystopian futures on the verge of an uprising is fairly common in contemporary literature, Robertson's approach is definitely unique. The reader is introduced to many characters that each carry a singular perspective on their society. The technological conventions are fun to discover and Robertson uses them to their fullest in an entertaining way. The middle third of the book slows down a little too much, but once the action ramps up, it is exciting, no hold barred action and thrills until the somewhat predictable but still sensational ending.
Dystopian future and government conspiracy fans will definitely find INSATIABLE MACHINE a good read, but I'll go a step farther and say that most people will finish the book smiling and wondering what this civilization within the book will become.
