Well Denise Swank has done it again. She's put some more mystery, suspense, fun, craziness, and love into Rose and Joe's lives. Rose makes Joe and everyone else crazy with her shenanigans. You can't help but laugh. Her books are fun and you feel good after reading the Rose Gardner Mystery Books. This is number two for me and I'm hooked. I was going to read something else when I had finished but I'm going on to number three, I can't help myself.

The world of understated, overlooked Rose Ann Gardner is not very hopeful. She is my kind of 'weird,' but she's on a mission! She's had ENOUGH and she's telling everyone to back the heck off! Beware understating Rose Ann Gardner because there is a volcano rumbling under the surface! I really like the Rose character DGS creates in the series. DGS had me hooked throughout the entire SERIES! The pacing of the storyline is just right and she never looses her reader. This story is not like many of the salacious romances on the market, but it's still HOT! Clever phrases like 'Crappy doodles' and 'my stars and garters' are associated with specific characters and events which give readers a 'heads up' that something important is about to happen. So as Rose would remark, "Crappy doodles!" I like DGS so much I am currently reading ALL the Rose Gardner mystery series and I don't usually read mysteries! Denise Grover Swank is becoming another 1-click author for me. So as Neely Kate would say, "My stars and garters," I will be sorta DGS poor for a while. -G
I am never skeptical of starting a new book I absolutely love reading and I am usually pretty easy going when it comes to different books. I can almost always start a book and enjoy ever minute of it. Yes I do look at book covers sometimes when I'm searching for a new book to start but not always. This book cover looked perfect for me so I was very eager to start reading it. As soon as I read the first chapter I was completely hooked! And I mean hooked bad!! I didn't realize how addicted I was until after I finished the first book. I was completely consumed by this book afterwards!! I am an honest person not just saying this for rating purposes I actually do love this book!! I guarantee if you like these kind of books (romance, mystery, murder) you will fall in love with this series as I have!!! I am definitely a sucker for romance. And the romance alone in this story is so amazing. The mystery and murder is just an added bonus!! It has become an addiction for me. I think about this book while at work, while running erands, while eating meals, while cooking, before I go to bed, as soon as I wake up, the list just goes on and on! I have then gone on and purchased the next book in the series immediately after finishing one. If I could give this book a rating between 1 and 10 it would absolutely essential a 10 for sure! This book really does deserve a true 5 stars! I have started downloading other books by this author but I do not want to start them until I finish the series! You will not be disappointed with this book! You will find yourself clinging to it for more!!
Now I’ve bought and read the entire series and I still say it’s one of the best I’ve ever read, although at one point between books two and three I felt that Rose cried too much. I was at the point of dropping the story but I’m glad I didn’t, it keeps getting better and better as the character changes and becomes stronger. A delightful read indeed.
I am loving this series. I'm up to Book 5 at the moment, but I'm so happy to see that there are so many more books to go. I enjoy the paranormal element and the romance, and the action suspense keeps me glued to the book beyond bedtime. I tend to read a book a day with these as they are so more-ish. Rose is such a great character—she's sweet and she has a strong moral compass when it comes to helping because it's the right thing to do. I also like that Joe isn't perfect, and neither is her sister. The author weaves the personal drama and the mystery aspects very well, so that they're both suspenseful throughout the book. I'm glad I started this series a long time after the author so that there are so many books ready and waiting ).
The Second book in The Rose Gardner series is a wonderful sequel. It continues of adventures of our Favorite amateur detective Rose!

We learned in 28 that Rose is as the gift having visons of the future. As we learned in the 28 that they are not always convenient and almost always get her in trouble. In 29, Rose has her first boyfriend, Joe (her hunky neighbor). We learned Joe is an undercover state trooper who lives in Little Rock.

I loved seeing Rose grow in this book. She is finally free of her controlling and abusive mother and she is starting to find our who she is and what she really wants out of life. Of course with any change, comes uncomfortableness. We see not only Rose struggle to become comfortable in her own skin, but we see Rose's sister struggle with letting Rose grow up. Violet still wants to play mama bear and protect and control Rose. This causes friction with Rose and in her relationship with Joe.

We also introduced to the awesomeness tha tis Neely Kate. Rose meets her friend soul-mate during jury duty and lets just say Fenton County will never be the same when these two become friends.

Through out this book we see Rose form new relationships with the citzens of Fenton County. People who she will need to rely on or help. This of course causes some strain in her relationship with Joe as he feels left out and unable to protect Rose.
